"We're physically part of the sun. The sun gives us energy, creates our world."
-Jon Anderson
Leveraging the power of solar energy can lead to reducing our impact on the environment, gaining energy independence, and reducing utility costs. Although solar energy is a big part of recent renewable energy conversations, solar energy technology is more established than you might think. In 1954, Bell Laboratories built the first silicon solar cell, the predecessor to all solar-powered devices. The New York Times described the milestone "the beginning of a new era, leading eventually to the realization of one of mankind's most cherished dreams--the harnessing of the almost limitless energy of the sun for the uses of civilization."
Going solar doesn't need to feel complicated. You can even join a co-op!
Leverage the power of the sun and people by going solar together!
Did You Know?
The Earth receives enough sunlight in one hour to power the world for one year!
Be The Change
Why: Solar energy derives pure, clean energy from the sun. Solar panels combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduces dependence on fossil fuels.
How: Go Solar!
Let's do better and be better TOGETHER!
